A million monkeys, a million typewriters…

I’m sure you’ve heard that old addage that if a million monkeys were given a million typewriters, eventually one would type one of Shakespeare’s plays.

If you’ve never heard it, you have now, but if you’ve heard it and wondered exactly how that would work, check this out. (It’ll remain on the right hand side too, under time wasters)

Now, of course, if you had an infinite amount of monkeys and an infinite amount of typewriters, you would have every Shakespearean work ever produced typed out in the time it takes for the longest work to be typed by a single monkey.

Gotta love infinitum! πŸ˜›

So is the simulator I’m seeing an compilation of the entire population… or just the monkey’s I’ve added to the pot?

The “Best results” is shows isn’t my results is it?

If the text box is showing MY results… I got a match pretty darn quick.

    GREAT idea… lousy site.

It has to be the entire population. How could you have added that many monkeys so quickly?

I’ll try to find you a labeled-for-morons site.

Actually the FAQ implies it’s just your set o’ monkeys

    I’m up to 26 letters

  4. Chris says:

Doug’s right. Those monkeys are your personal monkeys.

I stand corrected. For once. πŸ™‚
